Homework!

Make sure your girls have chosen the person as well as written at least 1 letter to the adopted grandparent. Next week will be time for the next letter and so on until the December 17th meeting. They must keep a journal! Let me know if you would like an example of what to write.

Our next meeting will be a Christmas Party. Would you prefer a meeting at the school or we could even do a house to make it cozy.

Let me know what you think!

December Troop Meeting/Christmas Party

Wednesday, December 17th @ 6:00 p.m.

What do you think about buying a $5 book and having the girls exchange it? Or possibly bringing a book from home that they don't read anymore and exchange it...our next badge is "Caring & Sharing" so it may go hand in hand. What do you think?

Tree Trimming

Saturday, December 6th from 1-3 p.m. in front of the Murfreesboro Water Department on NW Broad Street Come help decorate the Girl Scout tree.

At our last meeting we made garland out of twine and fruit loops, but fee free to bring any homemade pinecones with peanut butter/bird seeds or anything wildlife & weatherproof friendly. Collecting items to be donated to the local food bank, Women's Shelter & Child Advocacy would be great, but is not necessary. (Child Advocacy center would love stuffed animals for the kids...any that you have lying around that your kids aren't playing with anymore. Women's Shelter would love items that they may forget at home after leaving in a rush...tooth brush/paste, etc. )

Stacie will be going to the tree trimming on Saturday and offered to meet anyone who would like to go...read below:
Also, if you want to email out that everyone that wants to go to the Christmas Tree on Saturday, we can meet at 12:30 at Barfield and ride together or follow each other. My cell phone is 812-1056 if anyone needs to call too.

Next Tuesdays meeting

The majority of you have expressed interest in taking the items over at 7 p.m. and arriving to the meeting at 6 p.m.

Remember to have your girls practicing their manners every single day so they can earn their badge. Also - Please talk to them about charities as well as how important it is to give to others.

For our next meeting we will be making Christmas tree trimmings out of Fruit Loops & yarn. This will go on the Brownie tree in the square of Murfreesboro. If the parents want to join in, you are more than welcome to stay!

Please remember your check books or cash to the next meeting. I gave everyone a handout of what your dues will be until May of next year.

Enjoy your week!

November Community Service Project

Good Shepherd Children's Home was chosen for this month's community service project.

http://www.goodshepherdchildrenshome.org/

On November's newsletter I included some things from their wish list. It would be great if you had your Brownie earn money by doing chores then take her to the grocery to buy canned goods for the charity. This will teach her charity and responsibility and give her an understanding of buying goods on her own.

Please bring everything collected to the 4th Tuesday of this month. I will find out what day it will work for the children's home and let everyone know. If this date works for you, it would be great if your Brownie can go with us to deliver it.

Cookie Mom

I am in need of a Cookie Mom/Dad. The cookie mom/dad will help with cookie sales from December to March. From the little that I know now, I believe this person will attend a call to discuss the information needed and a meeting, organize the cookie sales for our troop, collect money and pick up cookies. The coleaders and myself are busy with leader meetings and the planning of our own meeting and outtings. I would really appreciate a mom or two to step up and please take this over for me. If anyone will help out, please email me at courtney.marshall@gmail.com.

This is the first email I received:

Please join the Girl Scout Cookie Office for a one hour teleconference that will detail the 2009 Cookie Program. We will discuss important dates, necessary forms, marketing materials, deposit requirements, incentives, cookie depots, eBUDDE, and more....
December 4th, 10:30-11:30 a.m or 8:00-9:00 p.m. or December 5th, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or December 6th, 9 - 10 a.m.,

Please help! It shouldn't be that much work, but the little that you can help will help your troop a lot!

Thanks everyone!
